Potential new dwarf planet discovery challenges Planet Nine theory

0

A team of scientists at the Institute for Advanced Study School of Natural Sciences in Princeton, New Jersey, might have found a new dwarf planet, potentially leading to more evidence of a theoretical super-planet.

The scientists announced in a news release that they have found a trans-Neptune Object(TNO), code-named 2017OF201, located past the icy and desolate region of the Kuplier Belt.

The TNO, which are described as minor planets that orbit the sun at a greater distance than Neptune, were found on the edge of our solar system.

While there are plenty of other TNOs in the solar system, what makes 2017OF201 special is its large size and extreme orbit.

One of the team leads, Sihao Cheng, along with Jiaxuan Li and Eritas Yang from Princeton University, made the discovery.

The team used advanced computational methods to identify the object’s distinctive trajectory pattern in the sky.

“The object’s aphelion — the farthest point on the orbit from the Sun — is more than 1600 times that of the Earth’s orbit,” Cheng said in the release. “Meanwhile, its perihelion — the closest point on its orbit to the Sun — is 44.5 times that of the Earth’s orbit, similar to Pluto’s orbit.”

2017OF201 takes about 25,000 years to orbit the sun, making Yang suggest that “It must have experienced close encounters with a giant planet, causing it to be ejected to a wide orbit.”

The solar system is made up the sun, eight planets, 138 moons and many comets, asteroids and other space rocks.

Cheng also added that there may have been more than one step in its migration.

“It’s possible that this object was first ejected to the Oort cloud, the most distant region in our solar system, which is home to many comets, and then sent back,” Cheng said.

This discovery has significant implications for the current understanding of the layout of our outer solar system.

According to NASA, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) astronomers Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown in January 2016 announced research that provided evidence for a planet about 1.5 times the size of Earth in the outer solar system.

However, the existence of Planet X or Planet Nine is strictly theoretical as neither astronomer has actually observed such a planet.

File photo - an undated Hubble image shows NGC 1566, a galaxy located about 40 million light-years away in the constellation of Dorado (The Dolphinfish).

“Even though advances in telescopes have enabled us to explore distant parts of the universe, there is still a great deal to discover about our own solar system,” Cheng said. (Reuters/ESA/Hubble & NASA/Handout via Reuters)

The theory puts the planet at around the same size as Neptune, far past Pluto somewhere near the Kuiper Belt, where 2017OF201 was located.

If it exists, it is theorized to have a mass of up to 10 times as much as Earth’s with a distance of up to 30 times further than Neptune to the Sun.

It would take between 10,000 and 20,000 Earth years to make one full orbit around the Sun.

However, the area beyond the Kuiper Belt, where the object is located, had previously been thought to be essentially empty, but the team’s discovery suggests that this is not so.

Cheng said in the release that 2017OF201 only has about 1% of its orbit visible to us.

“Even though advances in telescopes have enabled us to explore distant parts of the universe, there is still a great deal to discover about our own solar system,” Cheng said.

NASA mentioned that if Planet Nine exists, it could help explain the unique orbits of some smaller objects in the distant Kuiper Belt.

As of now, Planet Nine remains all but a theory, but the existence of this far-off world rests on gravitational patterns in the outer solar system.

Sperm donor with rare cancer mutation linked to 10 cancer cases in children

0

Sperm from a single donor in Europe has reportedly been used to conceive at least 67 pregnancies, although the donor carried a rare cancer-causing mutation.

The donor’s mutation has been linked to cancer diagnoses in 10 of these children, according to a report by The Guardian.

The case was brought to light after two families separately contacted their fertility clinics after their children’s cancer diagnoses were linked to a rare genetic variant called TP53.

PROSTATE CANCER RISK INCREASES BY 45% AMONG MEN WHO SHARE ONE TROUBLING BEHAVIOR

A mutation in the TP53 gene causes Li-Fraumeni syndrome, which increases the risk of developing cancer. Cleveland Clinic states that this disorder comes with a 90% chance of developing some type of cancer by age 60, and a 50% chance by the age of 40.

The European Sperm Bank, the sperm supplier, confirmed that this variant was present in some of the donor’s sperm.

Researcher Dr. Edwige Kasper (not pictured) advocates for a European limit on the number of births or families for a single donor. (iStock)

The Guardian reported that the rare variant was “not known to be linked to cancer at the time of donation in 2008.”

The genetic variant reportedly would not have been detectable through standard screening, and the donor is said to currently be in good health.

“The identified mutation is one that could not have been detected by the screening methods we use in accordance with regulations.”

Dr Edwige Kasper, a biologist at Rouen University Hospital in France, presented this case at the European Society of Human Genetics’ annual conference in Milan last week, commenting on the need for a European limit on the number of births or families for a single donor.

“We can’t do whole-genome sequencing for all sperm donors – I’m not arguing for that,” she told The Guardian. “But this is the abnormal dissemination of genetic disease. Not every man has 75 children across Europe.”

4 TROUBLING CANCER TRENDS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT IN 2025

Kasper analyzed the mutation in her lab, concluding that it was most likely cancer-causing and that children born from this donor should “receive genetic counseling.”

The research-turned-investigation tracked down 67 children from 46 families in eight European countries. The children were tested, with the variant detected in 23 of them.

The 10 who had been diagnosed with cancer reportedly included cases of leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, the European Sperm Bank stated that donor-assisted reproduction “generally remains a significantly safer alternative” than reproduction without genetic screening.

The bank added that sperm donors undergo a “comprehensive health screening,” which includes an in-depth medical examination, a review of the donor’s family medical history and “extensive” testing for genetic and infectious diseases.

“However, it’s not possible to rule out all risks — and, in this particular case, the identified mutation is one that could not have been detected by the screening methods we use in accordance with regulations and would require specialized genetic testing,” the group noted.

Julie Paulli Budtz, VP. of corporate communications at the European Sperm Bank, expressed to Fox News Digital that they are “deeply affected by this case.”

“The donor has been thoroughly tested even beyond the required standards, but preventative genetic screening is reaching its limits here,” she said.

“Every human being has about 20,000 genes, and it is scientifically simply not possible to detect disease-causing mutations in a person’s gene pool if you don’t know what you are looking for.”

Budtz noted that the European Sperm Bank welcomes “continued dialogue” regarding setting an “internationally binding family limit,” which they have advocated for “on several occasions, also at EU level.”

“This is also why, in addition to complying with national pregnancy limits, we have proactively implemented our own international limit of 75 families per donor,” she added.

What to know about US sperm donation guidelines

In the U.S., there is no official legal limit on how many sperm donations one man can make.

However, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommends that donors are limited to 25 live births within each population area of 800,000 people.

“Institutions, clinics and sperm banks should maintain sufficient records to allow a limit to be set for the number of pregnancies for which a given donor is responsible,” the ASRM states on its website.

“Limiting donor vials is an important part of the process.”

California Cryobank, which has claimed to have the largest selection of sperm and egg donations in the country, states on its website that it closely monitors donors to limit the total number of family units to 20 to 30 worldwide.

“Limiting donor vials is an important part of the process,” the bank noted.

The U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) requires that all sperm donors undergo a physical exam, complete a questionnaire, provide their medical history, and undergo screenings for infectious diseases at an FDA-approved lab.

In addition, the ASRM suggests that donors undergo psychological and genetic screening, and also recommends infectious-disease testing of the recipient and the recipient’s sexually intimate partners, per its website.

“Legal consultation and laws may vary by state,” the organization notes.

At California Cryobank, donors must be tested for infectious diseases, undergo genetic screening, get a psychological assessment and criminal background check, and receive screening for the Zika virus, according to the bank’s website.

Sea therapy offers mental health benefits for summer beach travelers, experts say

0

With summer travel kicking off in full swing, many Americans are seeking sunshine and waves.

Aside from enjoying rest and relaxation, beachgoers will also be reaping the mental-health benefits of “sea therapy.”

Thea Gallagher, PsyD, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at NYU Langone Health in New York City, told Fox News Digital that “sea therapy is a real concept.”

“The beach allows for mindfulness because it facilitates being more present when you are watching the ocean,” said Gallagher, “as it is repetitive and allows for greater connection to the present moment while keeping us engaged.”

She added, “It can also be an escape from our busy lives and can allow us to see into the distance, which can be compelling and relaxing.”

Gallagher said that “sea therapy” is often referred to as thalassotherapy or blue space therapy. It taps into the healing properties of coastal environments.

The rhythmic motion of water can help regulate Americans’ nervous systems and supports cognitive restoration.

“Spending time at the beach can have profound effects on mental well-being,” said Gallagher.

Benefits can include stress reduction, mood boost, cognitive restoration and improved sleep, she said.

The beach can help visitors recover from mental fatigue, promoting attention restoration.

Gallagher said exposure to “negative ions in sea air has been linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of depression.”

Sun exposure also helps the body produce vitamin D, which is essential for bone health, immune function and mood regulation, Gallagher added.

Travel expert Francesca Page of New York told Fox News Digital that “sea therapy” is not news to her.

“While swimming has additional advantages, simply being near the ocean — walking, listening to waves or breathing in sea air — can promote relaxation,” said Gallagher.

China launches Tianwen-2 space probe to collect samples from asteroid near Mars

0

China has launched a space probe that will travel to an asteroid near Mars to collect samples and find potential “groundbreaking” results.

The Tianwen-2 probe launched Thursday from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province aboard the workhorse Long March 3-B rocket, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

The target of the Tianwen-2 will be different from its predecessor, the Tianwen-1, which launched a year ago and landed on Mars.

Tianwen-2 will be aiming for the asteroid 2016 HO3, which is also known as 469219 Kamoʻoalewa, to bring back samples.

The proposed 10-year plan would involve more than just this space mission as China continues to look to expand into space.

Zhang Rongqiao, chief designer of the Tianwen-1, told China Central Television he plans to implement the “Tianwen-3” Mars sampling return mission in 2028, while the “Tianwen-4” will head toward Jupiter.

According to The Associated Press, the asteroids, chosen for their relatively stable orbits, will hopefully offer clues about the formation of Earth, such as the origins of water.

Samples from 2016HO3 are due to be returned in about two years.

Even if the CNSA is going to distribute these samples to international partners like they have on previous missions, NASA wouldn’t be able to receive any samples.

A law passed in 2011, known as the Wolf Amendment, restricts NASA from having any cooperation with the CNSA.

Miley Cyrus’ infection highlights risks of skin injuries in public spaces

0

After filming a music video on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Miley Cyrus said she was recently hospitalized with a knee infection, prompting doctors to weigh in on how certain environments can expose people to harmful bacteria.

On a Thursday episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Cyrus, 32, recalled the moment she filmed her “Something Beautiful” visual album and then landed in the ICU.

“I filmed this video in October [2024] by November at Thanksgiving, I was put in the ICU for a moment — just for a moment,” the singer said.

WHEN 2-YEAR-OLD GOES INTO CARDIAC ARREST, PARENTS TAKE LIFE-SAVING ACTION

Cyrus described rolling on the sidewalk as part of her shoot, and shortly after, she developed symptoms that required intensive medical attention.

“I caught something,” she remarked. “My leg began to disintegrate … around the kneecap area. And then the doctor goes, ‘Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?’”

Cyrus’ music video shoot put her in close contact with one of the busiest sidewalks in the country. (iStock)

While the singer did not disclose a specific diagnosis, medical experts say her case is a reminder of how everyday public spaces can present hidden health hazards.

“Strep or staph bacteria are common causes of skin infection like cellulitis.”

Dr. Marc Siegel, clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and Fox News senior medical analyst, noted that extremely aggressive bacteria are not common in urban settings.

Flesh-eating bacteria on city streets is very rare,” Siegel, who did not treat Cyrus, told Fox News Digital. “Rat urine can cause leptospirosis, a bacteria that causes flu-like symptoms.”

The doctor said he believes the likely cause was a more typical bacterial infection rather than something exotic, although common bacteria can cause serious skin reactions.

“Strep or staph bacteria are common causes of skin infection like cellulitis,” said Siegel. “Bacteria can be found [on streets], like E. coli, shigella and enterococci, which are from fecal matter, and may get onto the bottoms of shoes,” he added.

HODA KOTB REVEALS DAUGHTER’S CONCERNING DIAGNOSIS INFLUENCED HER EXIT FROM ‘TODAY’

These infections do not typically originate from the street itself, the doctor said, but can develop when skin comes in contact with bacteria, which can happen during close exposure to surfaces like sidewalks.

The risk of infection often increases when the skin is broken or irritated, allowing bacteria to enter the body more easily.

“The best way to keep this from happening is to be fastidious with hygiene,” said an emergency medicine physician. (iStock)

Even minor cuts and scrapes can become gateways for infection when exposed to contaminated surfaces, according to Dr. Ken Perry, an emergency medicine physician in Charleston, South Carolina.

“For most patients, these infections are contracted from open wounds in the skin or some other breach in the skin barrier,” Perry, who also did not treat Cyrus, told Fox News Digital.

Such infections are usually easily treated with common antibiotics, according to the doctor.

While most people do not make close bodily contact with sidewalks and busy streets, even limited exposure can sometimes pose a risk, experts say. (iStock)

Cyrus’ shoot put her in close contact with one of the busiest sidewalks in the country, which doctors say can heighten the danger.

“In the case of Miley Cyrus, she states that she contracted this after rolling around on the ground during the filming of her music video,” said Perry.

AMERICAN HONEYMOON HOTSPOT HIT BY HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS ILLNESS, HEALTH OFFICIALS WARN

“The foot traffic could easily contaminate the area with bacteria from animal or even human sources,” he hypothesized.

“For the majority of the population, rolling around on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is not common behavior, but even casual interaction could put an individual in contact with harmful bacteria,” Perry added.

Hygiene as a first line of defense

Doctors agree that basic hygiene is one of the best ways to avoid infection, especially in public spaces.

“The best way to keep this from happening is to be fastidious with hygiene,” said Perry.

“We know to wash our hands after being in public to keep from possibly transferring bacteria to the mucus membranes of our eyes, or even ingesting bacteria.”

Experts recommend covering wounds and washing them as soon as possible if exposed to public environments.

“If the cut or scrape occurs while out in public, make sure to wash with soap and water,” Perry advised.  “If an individual has a cut or some break in the skin, it is best to keep it covered, especially when out in public.”

It is important to seek medical care if there are signs of redness, swelling or drainage, as these could be signs of a worsening bacterial infection, the doctor cautioned.

5-MINUTE CLEANUP FOR YOUR PHONE AND COMPUTER

Let’s get to it.

1. Fast-Track Your Freelance Life

Prompt to use:
“Act as a freelance business coach. Suggest 3 services I can offer on Fiverr or Upwork using AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney or Canva. I have [insert skill: writing/design/admin/accounting/managerial] experience.”

Why this works:
Freelance work is exploding right now. Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr are filled with small businesses and entrepreneurs who need help—but don’t have the budget to hire full-time staff. If you’ve got any kind of professional background, you can use AI tools to turbocharge your services. Writing blog posts? ChatGPT can give you a draft. Creating logos or social media templates? Midjourney and Canva are your new best friends.

You don’t need a team. You don’t need fancy software. You just need a good prompt and the confidence to say, “Yes, I can do that.” AI helps you scale what you already know how to do.

2. Make Product Descriptions Sexy Again

Prompt to use:
“Rewrite this Etsy or Shopify product description to make it more compelling and SEO-friendly. Target audience: [insert group]. Here’s the original: [paste description].”

Why this works:
Let’s face it—most product descriptions online are a snooze. But good copy sells. Whether you’re running your own shop or helping someone else with theirs, compelling product descriptions convert clicks into customers. Use ChatGPT to punch up the language, fine-tune for SEO, and speak directly to your ideal buyer.

DON’T SCAM YOURSELF WITH THE TRICKS HACKERS DON’T WANT ME TO SHARE

Remember: people don’t just want to buy a weird mug. They want to buy what it says about them. That’s where a smart rewrite can turn browsers into buyers.

3. Social Posts That Sell

Prompt to use:
“Create 5 attention-grabbing Instagram captions to promote this [product/service]. Keep the tone [fun, confident, expert] and include a strong call to action.”

Why this works:
We live in a scroll-happy world. Your social captions need to grab attention in less than three seconds. But not everyone’s a copywriter—and not everyone has time to be. AI can help you crank out engaging content in the tone and style that fits your brand. Add a great photo, post consistently, and you’re suddenly a one-person content agency without the overhead (or endless Zoom meetings).

OpenAI and ChatGPT logos displayed on screens.

If you’re managing social for clients or your own biz, this prompt is gold. Use it to build content calendars, write reels scripts, or even draft ad copy.

4. Polite Emails That Save You Money

Prompt to use:
“Write a short, polite email to ask for a lower rate or discount on [tool/service/platform]. Mention that I’m a loyal customer comparing alternatives.”

Why this works:
Negotiating discounts doesn’t always feel comfortable but it absolutely works. Companies often have unpublished deals, especially for longtime users or small businesses. And customer service reps? They’re human beings. A kind, well-written email might be all it takes to get a discount on that software you’re using every month.

5. Your Passive Income Kit

Prompt to use:
“Give me 3 high-demand, low-competition ideas for a short e-book or low-content book I can sell on Amazon. I have experience in [insert topic].”

Why this works:
You have knowledge people want. Package it. Sell it. Repeat. Whether it’s a short guide on starting a backyard garden or a workbook for productivity hacks, e-books and low-content books (like journals or planners) sell surprisingly well. And AI can help you brainstorm ideas, outline chapters, even draft content to polish up.

Fox News Senior Correspondent Mike Tobin has completed one of the riskiest feats in the world: climbing Mount Everest.

Along with a team, Tobin hiked the mountain in the Himalayas, reaching the highest point on Earth.

Tobin was back on the channel, joining “America’s Newsroom” on Friday from China to share the details of his experience.

EXTREME TRAVEL DESTINATION TO RESTRICT POPULAR MOUNTAIN ACCESS

“Some people say weather-wise, it was one of the best summit windows they’ve seen in like 20 years,” said Tobin.

“And you compare that to the other people who climbed this Everest season, most of them got beat up on the summit.”

He said that his team saw people going down the mountain with “big black mittens on,” indicating that “they were covering up frostbite damage.”

Tobin shared that when he reached the summit, it was a little bit cloudy.

“I’m very well aware that 90% of the accidents happen on the way down and so you’re tired, you’re a little hypoxic, and it was a moment of concentration for me,” said Tobin.

“I was just trying to think, ‘Keep your head about yourself. Don’t make any mistakes, don’t turn what’s otherwise going to be a celebration into a tragedy.'”

About 700 to 1,000 climbers attempt the summit each year, with success rates ranging between 60% and 70%, according to Climbing Kilimanjaro.

“Keep your head about yourself. Don’t make any mistakes.”

Tobin said that he “certainly was spooked at different times on the climb,” sharing that it hit him when he came back down on the second step.

The second step is on the northeast ridge of Mount Everest, one of three major obstacles.

“Some people say [that] weather-wise, it was one of the best summit windows they’ve seen in like 20 years,” said Tobin. “And you compare that to the other people who climbed this Everest season, most of them got beat up on the summit.” (Mike Tobin)

He said it was a bit “odd” as he “was pretty enthused on the way up,” but added other team members shared that the moment was spooky for them, too.

While in the “death zone,” Tobin participated in the 22 Pushup Challenge to raise awareness about the issue of veteran and first responder suicide.

“The only way you survive the death zone is to get in and out of there as fast as you can before the sand runs out of your hourglass or before the oxygen runs out of your bottle,” said Tobin.

The “death zone” is an area above 26,247 ft. on the mountain; the air is too thin to support human life without supplemental oxygen.

“It was kind of an add-on to the climb … You’ve seen some of the different events that people have done as far as the 22 push-ups in recognition of veteran suicide,” said Tobin.

“I hope that a troubled guy out there somewhere who was looking at suicide as a reasonable response to his troubles will realize that someone took the time to do that in a perilous situation and reconsider before he hurts himself,” he added.

Your smartphone works hard, but it doesn’t always stay in top shape on its own. Over time, storage fills up, apps collect background data and privacy settings fall behind.

You might notice slower performance, random glitches or just a general sense that things aren’t running as smoothly as they used to. The good news is that a quick digital and physical cleanup can help your device run like new.

These simple steps will help you free up space, improve speed and keep your personal data better protected.

Digital cleanup tips

1. Clear out apps and files you forgot existed

If your phone is low on storage or feeling sluggish, start by clearing out apps and files you no longer use. This is one of the fastest ways to improve speed and battery life.

For iPhone users

  • Offload unused apps: Go to Settings > Apps > App Store > Turn on Offload Unused Apps.
  • Review app storage usage: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Scroll down and select an app > Select apps to offload or delete. (Note: Offloading an app will preserve the app’s data and documents, allowing you to reinstall the app later and pick up where you left off. While deleting an app will remove both the app and all its data from your device permanently, unless that data is backed up elsewhere.)
  • Delete large message attachments: Go to Messages > Open a conversation > Tap contact name > Info > See All under Photos > Tap Select > Tap photos you want to delete > Tap Delete on the bottom right > Confirm by tapping Delete Attachment.
  • Enable iCloud photos: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos > Turn on Sync this iPhone and Optimize iPhone Storage to save space on your device by storing full-resolution photos in iCloud and smaller versions locally.

  • Never spray liquid directly on the screen or into ports.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, ammonia or glass cleaner.
  • Do not use paper towels or abrasive materials that can scratch the screen.

Clean ports and speakers

  • Use a soft-bristled brush or wooden toothpick to remove lint and debris from charging ports and speaker grills.
  • Avoid using metal objects or compressed air directly into the port.

Clean your case

  • For plastic or silicone: Wash with warm soapy water, rinse and air dry.
  • For leather or fabric: Use a surface-appropriate cleaning solution and follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.

Before cleaning, always power off your phone and unplug any accessories.

Flea-ridden puppy becomes world traveler with adventurer who had feared dogs all her life

0

Once terrified of dogs, German adventurer Heike Pirngruber is now walking the globe with Butch, a flea-covered puppy she rescued in Mexico that’s reportedly become one of the most well-traveled dogs on the planet.

Together, the two have crossed continents by foot, canoe, motorbike and tuk tuk, news agency SWNS reported.

Pirngruber, 53, adopted the Australian cattle puppy in 2021 while she was staying in a beach hut in Baja California, Mexico.

Butch was just a month old, malnourished and alone when she found him.

“I never really liked dogs when I was a kid,” Pirngruber of Heidelberg, Germany, told SWNS. “But the first moment I had little Butch in my arms and knew he was mine now, I couldn’t believe how I felt.”

Her fear of dogs came from years of solo travel — seven of them spent cycling around the world. She was often chased by aggressive strays, she said.

But her perspective began to change after a chance encounter at the beach hut. She had cooked grilled chicken when a street dog, later named Max, appeared at her door, SWNS reported.

Initially hesitant, she was convinced by a friend to feed him.

The next day, Max returned with two companions, Brownie and Pushy.

She began feeding them regularly and slowly shed her fear.

Later, when a local tried to give away a litter of flea-ridden puppies, Pirngruber made a life-changing decision. She chose Butch and took him on the road.

“Nothing was the same anymore,” she said. “And I had no clue how this little puppy would change my life.”

She added, “He’s my best friend. I love this guy to death and it’s awesome. I’ve never regretted picking him up and taking him with me on my travels, especially as he wasn’t treated very nicely.”

Having Butch by her side changed more than her travel routine, according to SWNS.

“With Butch, I always have someone there. I am never alone. I have such a connection with him and I’m happy with him.”

A former camera operator for ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen), Germany’s biggest broadcast station, Pirngruber has been traveling full-time for more than 12 years.

She has visited 104 countries across every inhabited continent.

Originally, she’d planned to cross the Americas by donkey in 2020, she said, followed by a break in Baja California in 2021.

“With Butch, I always have someone there. I am never alone. I have such a connection with him.”

But after adopting Butch, she scrapped that plan and chose other ways to continue their journey.

Over the next three years, they explored the Americas together on foot, by canoe, motorcycle, and tuk tuk before flying to Madrid in April 2024, per SWNS.

After a brief return home, just her third visit in 12 years, she quickly realized that life in Germany no longer felt like hers.

She was pulled back to the road.

“Now, I love my freedom, I love living day-by-day, I love not knowing where I am staying each night or where I can pitch my tent. It’s such a thrill,” she said.

“I choose where we go, mainly day by day. There are times when we want to get away from civilization and be by ourselves, and then other times I’m sitting in a square trying to get some contact with others, either in person or through my phone.”

“I love living day-by-day. I love not knowing where I am staying each night or where I can pitch my tent.”

She added, “But I’m not a planner, and that’s the fun in it. It’s about experiencing new places. I love culture. I love to understand the planet.”

She carries only the essentials she needs, she told SWNS: camping gear, a stove and pot, a camera, first aid supplies, and medicine for Butch.
