Travis Kelce launches his helmet in frustration, has tiff with Andy Reid during loss to Raiders

0

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce had another underwhelming game as the team fell to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday afternoon, 20-14.

Kelce finished the game with five catches for 44 yards as he recorded his fifth straight game without a touchdown. The tight end’s actions on the sidelines were the talking point after the game.

He was seen in the first half launching his helmet at the watercooler stand as his frustrations boiled over. He was then seen having a little tiff with head coach Andy Reid. One staff member tried to give Kelce his helmet back, but Reid denied him.

The two appeared to bump each other in a friendly manner at the end of their intense back-and-forth.

Reid was asked about his interactions with Kelce after the game.

“Yeah, listen, I mean, he went back in and did a nice job. So, things happen, emotional game. Trav’s emotional and sometimes my red hair gets to me a little bit, but it all works out,” Reid said.

He added that he didn’t think there was a “frustration point” that was being reached.

Patrick Mahomes was also frustrated at his offensive line at one point. He said he hoped to see his team move on from the loss and start preparing for their Week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I mean, all you can do is just move on to the next day, the next game. We’re going to be playing a Cincinnati team that obviously wants to beat us,” Mahomes said. “They’re playing good football, their quarterback is playing really good, their defense has always played good with their defensive coordinator.”

“All you can do is just move on, learn from your mistakes, get better and, I mean, I still believe that we can go do what we want to do. It’s just how can we correct it as quickly as possible. We’re at two games left that are guaranteed, and then you talk about the playoffs. All you can do is move on to that next game, get better and try to be better the next time we step on the field.”

Raiders’ Jack Jones goes full Grinch as he fakes out young Chiefs fan after pick-six

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones had a terrific game in their 20-14 win over the Kansas City Chiefs as he returned a Patrick Mahomes interception for a touchdown.

Jones made a list and checked it twice, and it appeared as though a young Chiefs fan was not on it.

There was definitely no love lost between the two AFC West rivals.

Las Vegas capitalized on a couple of Kansas City miscues during the win. Bilal Nichols returned a fumble for a touchdown on the series before Mahomes’ pick-six. It’s what really helped the Raiders to the win.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost a tough one to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday afternoon, 20-14.

The Chiefs’ miscues turned out to be a boon for the Raiders as Bilal Nichols and Jack Jones both scored on the defensive side for Las Vegas and stole the game away from Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. It was even tough on the Chiefs stars’ significant others, too.

Jahmyr Gibbs says NFL issued drug test after standout Christmas Eve performance

0

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is having a strong rookie season. The former Alabama football star has rushed for 872 yards in 13 games so far this year.

On Sunday, Gibbs delivered another solid performance, rushing for 80 yards and scoring two touchdowns in a win over the Minnesota Vikings. The Christmas Eve victory clinched the division title for the Lions for the first time since 1993.

After the game, Gibbs returned to his locker and found an unexpected message from the NFL stating that he had been randomly selected for a league-issued drug test.

Gibbs has been a key part of the Lions’ turnaround this season. He has provided a good compliment to veteran running back David Montgomery.

Gibbs also caught four passes for 20 yards during Sunday’s win.

A post to Gibb’s Instagram Story showed a note taped to a locker requesting his immediate presence at the “drug-testing area.”

“You have been selected by the NFL drug-testing program’s Independent Administrator to complete a performance enhancing substances test today,” the notice reads. “Please report to the drug-testing area ASAP to meet with the Doping Control Officer (DCO) and discuss the testing process.”

There is certainly no clear link between Gibbs’ strong performance and the mandatory drug test.

A player receiving notification that they must take a drug test is considered standard practice in the NFL. If a player declines to take the test, it is typically consider as a positive result and can carry serious penalties.

Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce lose their cool during frustrating game vs Raiders

But the Chiefs turned the ball over on consecutive drives, ending in Raiders touchdowns. Raiders defensive lineman Bilal Nichols recovered a fumble for a touchdown and Jack Jones picked off Mahomes and returned the interception 33 yards for a touchdown.

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons upset with officials after loss to Dolphins: ‘Free me dawg!!!’

0

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons took issue with the officiating in the team’s close loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and expressed his frustrations to reporters and on social media.

Parsons was upset about the lack of holding penalties against the Dolphins. The team’s website noted he’s gone 38 straight quarters without drawing a holding penalty. This season, he has 13 sacks, 53 total tackles and has tied his career high with 30 QB hits.

“It’s mind-blowing, the things that are getting called, the positions we get put in,” he said via the team’s website. “We just got to learn to fight the adversity and know a lot of it is BS. It’s football plays, but it’s the world we live in. We got the star on the helmet.”

Parsons did receive a penalty when he hit quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on one play. He pushed Tagovailoa in the back and the quarterback went to the ground. It was his only roughing the passer penalty of the season.

“[The official] said my intent was to punish the quarterback,” Parsons said. “But how am I trying to punish him if I’m just trying to sack him? It’s not like it’s a late hit. I didn’t leave my feet. I didn’t lead with my head. I don’t know how you make that call.”

I didn’t lead with my head, so I don’t know what a roughing the passer is anymore. In reality, I ran into D-Law. We both met at the quarterback. Like I said, it’s just hard to play defense.”

‘Nobody takes what he said personally’

0

Devin Booker does not appear to be taking offense to the recent comments from his teammate that brought up some potential uneasiness.

Pheonix Suns veteran guard Eric Gordon recently shared his frustration about how his role in the team’s offense has seemed to shrink in recent games.

“Early on in the season, it was better. And lately, there just hasn’t been an emphasis [to get me more looks],” Gordon told Bleacher Report. “So, it’s definitely different. Lately, I haven’t been getting hardly any touches, really.”

During Friday’s loss to the Sacramento Kings, Gordon was on the court for 25 minutes. But he only attempted two shots from the field, missing both and finishing the game with zero points.

He added that he would speak with first-year Suns coach Frank Vogel about creating a plan to ramp up his involvement on the offensive end of the floor.

“No question. Everybody knows the type of player I am and what I’m about. I came here to win, but what I do is score,” Gordon told Bleacher Report. “And I think when I score, it really opens up the door for a lot of people because I can score in big games and in big ways. That’s just what it is.”

Meanwhile, Booker recently told reporters that Gordon’s public expression of his unhappiness was not taken personally by any of the Suns players.

“Nobody takes what he said personal around here,” said Booker of Gordon’s comments via the Arizona Republic. “He’s been in this a long time. He’s earned that respect, and he has the talent to do what he said.”

Gordon got off to a strong start this season, averaging 14.2 points per game over the first 21 contests. He then missed a pair of games due to leg soreness, but his offensive production has dropped significantly since he returned to action. Gordon is averaging six points per game and has just 18 shot attempts over the past three games.

The Suns entered the 2023-2024 season expecting to compete for a championship, but through their first 28 games of the season, the team sits at .500. Phoenix is currently in the 11th spot in the Western Conference and would miss the postseason if the playoffs started today.

Gordon is in his first year with the Suns and his 16th season in the NBA.

NFL legend Calvin Johnson waited nearly three years to respond to Lions post after division clincher

0

Calvin Johnson is widely considered the greatest wide receiver in Detroit Lions history.

Despite Johnson’s standout individual performances over the course of his nine-year career in Detroit, the team did not experience much success during his tenure. Johnson was a member of the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. The Lions shared a congratulatory post on social media in January 2021, praising Johnson after he was named a Hall of Fame finalist.

Shortly after the Lions defeated the Vikings on Christmas Eve to clinch a division title for the first time since 1993, Johnson took to X to like, share and reply to the nearly 3-year-old post.

“Much appreciated. Thanks for the continuous support! Love my city!” Johnson wrote on Sunday afternoon. Johnson abruptly stepped away from football following the 2015 season.

Johnson finished his standout career with 11,619 receiving yards. The former Georgia Tech football star surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in six of his nine seasons.

He was just 30 years old when he decided to leave the NFL. Johnson’s relationship with the franchise has been somewhat strained since his unexpected retirement. The team reportedly asked Johnson to repay approximately $1.6 million of his signing bonus following his retirement.

The relationship between Johnson and his old team has seemed to improve over the years. He made an appearance at Ford Field earlier this season for the Lions Week 2 game against Seattle Seahawks.

Johnson also hosted a high school football camp at the Lions training facility earlier this year. ESPN previously reported that Johnson attended a minicamp session.

Detroit won just four games in 2012 when Johnson collected 1,964 receiving yards.

The Lions finished with a 4-12 record in 2012. In 2014, the Lions went 11-5 and qualified for the postseason. However, Detroit ultimately suffered a 24-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round.

Lions coach Dan Campbell has helped turn the franchise’s fortunes around. Clinching the division title on Sunday gave the Lions the right to host the first ever playoff game at Ford Field in January.

MORE: 10 ESSENTIAL HOME SAFETY TIPS TO KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES SAFE

Can a robot keep your family better connected and make your life easier?

Beyond the security benefits of a family companion robot, that also might make you feel less alone, EBO X has the potential to make your and your family’s lives easier. EBO X has a feature-rich design made to keep you aware of your family’s well-being whether you are somewhere else in the home or at work. Below are 10 ways in which EBO-X can keep your family better connected and possibly make your life a bit easier.

1) Alexa enabled means that it can seamlessly integrate with your smart home. Unlike other other Alexa-enabled devices that might be location-specific, EBO X can come to you wherever you are to listen to Alexa requests.

2) You can tell EBO X to follow you, and it will follow where it is allowed to go, making it a constant help or companion. This is great for kids or pets, who keep some extra company.

3) EBO X allows for real-time 2-way communication. If you’re not at home but want to communicate with your loved ones, you can talk to them through the app. If your loved one is at home with EBO X and wants to reach you, that individual can initiate a call or video call with simple vocal commands. This is especially great for homes with kids or adults who can’t text or call out using a mobile device.

4) If you want to leave a message for your family, you can send a text in the app, and EBO X will not only convert the text to a voice message, but it will find the correct recipient and speak the message aloud to them.

5) With multiple family logins, you can invite five members to join a chat, which can show what EBO X sees (video), making those moments more personal.

6) You can assign different messages or reminders to keep your family organized. One less thing for you to have to remember.

7) Curious about your family members, including pets, when you’re not at home? Because EBO X is lower to the ground, can move, and rotate, you can make sure not only to get cute images and videos of your family but also monitor their well-being.

How this robot helps you protect and connect your home

Image from EBO X robot (Enabot) (Kurt “CyberGuy” Knutsson)

8) EBO X can capture a video or photo of the whole family with a simple vocal command, making special moments easier to capture and more complete.

9) Because EBO X can be controlled by App, voice control, and touch (biometrics), it can be a useful companion to all members of the family.

10) And to add a little flair to any affair, you can adjust the colors and lighting effects to even match the rhythm of a song.

Privacy and safety considerations

As with any smart device, privacy, and safety are worthwhile considerations. With user privacy and control in mind, EBO X can be controlled through the app; you can manually press down the camera, or press the privacy button if you want surveillance to stop. You can rest assured that you can sign a privacy agreement when saving face information to keep it stored locally.

Though it has obstacle avoidance and edge detection, it would have more challenges in homes with edges or heights with a 7 mm drop or carpets over 5 mm in height. Now, if only EBO X could climb stairs, it’d be the perfect family companion robot.

Price

At the time of publishing, you can buy the EBO X for $999 on the company’s website (limited time) or $1099 on Amazon.

Kurt’s key takeaways

Priced about 50% less than its closest competitor, at $999, is a more affordable 3-in-1 device that the company claims can bring your family closer and safer. Its user-friendly and feature-rich design can take more than a few tasks off your to-do list and keep you focused on the present moment.
