Organization Leads Efforts to Deliver Critical Medical Care and Supplies Amidst Escalating Gang Violence.

Haiti, March 21, 2024 – Amidst the current surge in violence and escalating gang activity across Haiti, Haiti Air Ambulance (HAA) stands at the forefront of the nation’s relief efforts, collaborating with local partners to deliver critical care, medical supplies, and emergency transportation services.

Since February 29, 2024, violence instigated by armed gangs has displaced over 15,000 individuals in Port-au-Prince, joining the ranks of over 362,000 displaced Haitians nationwide. Over 400 access-hindering incidents have been recorded since the start of 2024, with more than 70 occurring in the first week of March alone. These incidents have led to the closure of key infrastructure, including airports, health facilities, and schools, threatening access to vital services for countless Haitians.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti who are enduring unimaginable suffering during this devastating humanitarian crisis,” said David Ellis, Executive Director of HAA. “We are committed to doing everything in our power to provide lifesaving medical care and support to those in need. Through our collaborative efforts with local partners, we are working to overcome the challenges posed by escalating gang violence and ensure that critical medical care reaches those who need it most.”
